SEVENTEEN, one of K-pop’s most influential boy bands, has made a powerful return with their 5th full-length studio album titled HAPPY BURSTDAY, released globally on May 26 at 6 PM KST. Marking their 10th anniversary since their debut, this album encapsulates a decade of growth, creativity, and evolution—packed into a 16-track celebration of their journey.
The lead single, “Thunder,” is a high-tempo dance-pop anthem co-produced by SEVENTEEN’s own Woozi, S.Coups, and longtime collaborator Bumzu. With its electrifying 130 bpm beat and dynamic choreography, the track sets the tone for a new chapter in the group’s career. The music video, also released on May 26, features a sleek club performance theme that signals SEVENTEEN’s transformation and renewal.

One of the most unique features of HAPPY BURSTDAY is the inclusion of 13 solo tracks—each tailored to reflect the personality and musical flavor of each SEVENTEEN member. From introspective ballads to genre-blending experiments, the solo songs offer fans an intimate look into each artist’s individuality and artistic growth.
The album also features international collaborations with legendary producers Pharrell Williams and Timbaland, further demonstrating SEVENTEEN’s growing global reach and influence. These tracks infuse the group’s signature style with a Western pop flair, promising a sound that bridges continents.
To kick off the release, SEVENTEEN held a special 3-day fan event titled the “B-Day Party,” culminating in a large-scale performance at Jamsugyo Bridge in Seoul on May 25. The event drew more than 60,000 fans and featured the first-ever live performance of “Thunder,” creating a euphoric, once-in-a-lifetime atmosphere.

However, the album’s rollout has not been without controversy. Some netizens have pointed out similarities between the HAPPY BURSTDAY branding and BTS’s 10th anniversary campaign. While HYBE, the label managing both groups, has not issued an official statement, debates have emerged online concerning concept originality and creative overlap within the label.
HAPPY BURSTDAY is now available on major streaming platforms worldwide, with physical album releases scheduled to roll out globally beginning May 30. U.S. distribution will follow via official retailers, including the SEVENTEEN Shop U.S.
With HAPPY BURSTDAY, SEVENTEEN isn’t just celebrating a milestone—they’re staking a bold claim on the future. Through 13 solo spotlights, electric production, and massive fan engagement, the album is a testament to their decade of excellence and a preview of the next.
